You say that people make money from things like this…so all the scary websites about 2012, do they try and sell stuff on there? (i dont look at them coz they scare me too much) i just always wonder WHY people would say stuff about 2012. i hope your right, i hope its just people being cruel and selfish trying to make money.

Like Gary said, some do and some just want attention. But as sadly as it may sound there also exist the people who truly believe in this nonsense like there were alot of people whom truly believed in Harold Camping.

You can't predict the future just because some old books tells you something is going to happen. Why do i know this? Because you just cant. It's like saying "Tomorrow a giant dragon-unicorn-fairy is going to meet me at my way to school!" chances are the same and it's also as much of a predicting as "the world is going to end!"

I don't see what the deal there is. So people are afraid of a holiday that happens every year? That is like being afraid of Christmas. Or Valentine's Day. I don't get it.

Just please, like i tell everyone, December 21st 2012, dont panic about the end of the world. Decorate your house for christmas, drink egg nog, eat christmas cookies, enjoy the yuletide celebration, hell even kiss someone under the Mistletoe. Just Enjoy yourself and the life you live, you only get one, why Panic?

Let's put it this way, if any of these proponents could tell the future, why don't they just buy a lottery ticket? Why must they plea for donations and write tacky books when they could easily win the lottery?

I mean, they can predict the future, right? If they can tell me when the world will end, then seeing a couple of numbers that would make them millionaires shouldn't be too hard either.

Predicting the future is not physically possible, obaeyens is spot on in his reply, random guesses and pure chance can make it seem like these people can indeed tell the future, although they tend to keep it vague to allow a bigger body of hits, while completely ignoring misses.

Most do, others are either attention seekers or flat out idiots. Bottom line, they're all wrong, whatever their motivation.

Unless their prediction is "the world will end in a few billion years when the sun swells up to a red giant and engulfs earth" then yes, they are wrong. Undoubtedly, without question, wrong.

In terms of influence over people he probably doesn't deserve 2 pages, but in terms of the sheer volume of bad science that he spews he more than deserves it. And we do limit debunking him to those areas where scaremongering is involved, otherwise it would require dozens of pages.

No scientific test as in double blind test has been proven that people can tell the future.
Just random guesses, statistical guesses, and some people can read your body language.

It is pretty easy to see why there are all wring, because these people hooked to fiction that they can't see reality any-more.

There is one thing i say to reassure myself….Theres soooo many different stories about 2012, about how people think the world might end. If it DOES end then it can only happen one way….that means theres alot of people out there that are DEFINTELY wrong about their theories…and hopefully they are all wrong right?

About three of four years ago, he started visiting a room on PalTalk where we were all trying to do a class. But none of us were about to cough up the cash on that system to make the room private.

One of our people is into all this conspiracy garbage. She kept inviting Earthplay into the room. I found his presence to be a bit disruptive. We would be discussing one thing and he would be typing about how HAARP is going to kill us all and other nonsense. He didn't like me one bit, as I always had an answer to counter his claims. But he persisted, he was going to turn us all into true believers.

One night, he came in as class was ending and begged us, I mean literally begged us to go see him in a room he was headed for and how any of our doubts would disappear when we heard what they had to say. The room was the Wake-Up Project. I had no idea what it was about, so, I headed that way.

I was never so offended in my life. All it was was someone playing a recording of how Jews are responsible for all the ills of the world and all the people in the room typing anti-Semitic hatred. I found myself red dotted fast as I typed about how they were making contradictory statements.

But Earthplay kept coming back and actually tried to convince the room owner that I was pure trouble and to get rid of me. It didn't happen and he stopped coming around. I'm amazed he actually gathered enough followers to warrant a page of his own on this site. The man is in the tin foil hat crowd and doesn't understand reason. When I banned him from my room on Pal, he whined to people that I was hating on him. No, I wasn't hating on him, I was hating on how he would come into the room and spew hatred for an entire race of people. If he could have behaved, he would have been fine. But he needs to be the center of attention and feel at least somewhat important in his pathetic life. No matter how outlandish his claims are. Trust me, his claims are out there.
