i think i mainly get scared at the thought of people possibly telling the future? can they? how do we know if they can or not? thats what really scares me i think. :(

You say that people make money from things like this…so all the scary websites about 2012, do they try and sell stuff on there? (i dont look at them coz they scare me too much) i just always wonder WHY people would say stuff about 2012. i hope your right, i hope its just people being cruel and selfish trying to make money.

There is one thing i say to reassure myself….Theres soooo many different stories about 2012, about how people think the world might end. Long story short, I've had a couple of "paranormal" things happen to me in my life. I did not come here to explain/elaborate on these events or to debate anything, this is a simple fact: I've seen very frightening things which cannot be explained by me or others, and these things were witnessed by not just me, but my closest friend. I have been seen by countless psychiatrists (for treatment for my panic disorder) and my only diagnosis has been anxiety/depression. I am of sound mind.

Anyway, those events led me to read a lot about these subjects, including 2012, and I became horrified by what I was reading. I knew most of it could be dismissed out of hand as obvious garbage, and if I cannot explain the things I've seen, no one else can. That's why the paranormal is mysterious, NO ONE knows what it is or why it happens. Still, things I came across during my "research" stuck with me and I eventually fell into a deep depression, having panic attacks several times a day. Since I had seen things that many people on this board probably dismiss as myth with my own two eyes (and another witness), that experience really amplified my fears. I thought "Well, if I've seen something with my own two eyes something that most people would never believe in, what ELSE is going on?". It was a very terrifying feeling of powerlessness.

To clarify, I have been dealing with this whole situation since I was 14. The severe depression started in 2007 and was directly related to what I had read about 2012. I truly don't want to rehash all of the horrific thoughts I had, I'm sure everyone here gets the picture. Everyday, I just imagined I was a marked for death, and so was my now-husband, my family, and my friends. I suffered from insomnia and was hospitalized several times for severe panic attacks.

It got to the point where just seeing the number 2012 would send me over the edge. I recall having a serious, full-blown panic attack when I noticed that one of our credit cards expired in 2012. When my senses were assaulted with the trailer for the ridiculous 2012 movie when I tried to have a relaxing night out with my husband, I had to leave the theater. I had to very carefully screen my TV viewing. Still, it was unavoidable. Talk of 2012 was and still is everywhere. Some idiot laughing and saying casually "Well, the world is ending in 2012 anyway! Might as well by myself a new car!" would send me into a spiral for days. I still hear crap like this all the time and it pisses me off.

This depression lasted for an entire year until, by sheer will, I was able to pull myself out of the darkness by first getting logical and having the courage to approach the topic enough to read facts about why the world WON'T end in 2012. I realized I had lived through Hale-Bopp comet conspiracies and Y2k, cried for days over the Hadron collider, and then in 2011 the whole doomsday hoopla. I realized that regardless, I had to try to bury this fear and live in the moment. I had to make a conscious decision as an adult to stop allowing the thought/fear cycle to consume me. After I did enough reading as to why 2012 is bogus, I stopped Googling it altogether, for any reason.

I still suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, but 2012 isn't my big trigger any longer. I'm not going to lie, it has been a process and now that we're in the year, I seriously can't wait for it to be over, and to know for sure that after YEARS of torment, I can move on with my life in peace. I know it will be a huge relief for me and even though I'm no longer depressed and no longer obsessing over 2012 fears on an hourly, daily, or even weekly basis, I know that 2013 will be the best New Year's of my life so far, JUST to have this ordeal over with and to be able to grow stronger from it.

To anyone else who has been a victim of this scam, I'm truly sorry. If there is a "conspiracy" that I believe in, it's that our fears are being exploited for profit and control and we are being preyed upon in that regard. I've suffered from this 2012 bullshit, I've seen my brother struggle with it almost as badly as I have, and since I've discovered this site I've read so many other devastating stories of how this rumor has destroyed lives. I'm glad there are resources like 2012hoax.org out there to help those who have been affected begin to heal.

Whenever Earthplay sees "2012hoax" mentioned in any chatroom, he jumps up and claims that we are mis-quoting, misrepresenting, or "slandering " him. If he's in his own chatroom he ejects the person who mentioned 2012hoax. If he's in another room, he threatens to leave unless an admin ejects the person who mentioned 2012hoax. I don't mention 2012hoax myself because I need to stay in the room to observe. I have occasionally suggested that he talks to the room about some part of his "science" that 2012hoax has debunked, whether he can defend his position. He has never even tried. He just goes on complaining about generalities.

Perhaps reading back his own words (unaltered) has given him a glimpse of his own limitations? And I would have said 2nd or 3rd grader.

Earthplay is referring to the list of FOOTNOTES at the bottom of the page. How can ANYONE think that Footnotes are "research staff"??? It sounds too stupid to be true, I know, but here he is actually saying it.

In fact, the Earthplay pages at 2012hoax have (to date) been written by ONE person, not 14. Anyone can check this by clicking on Tools > History. It does not take much effort to debunk Earthplay, given the dumbness of his "science" - so it's quite amusing to think that he imagines a "staff" of 14 people are required (probably paid by the CIA).

Earthplay often claims that he has been quoted out of context.

NOT TRUE. I have always included a generous amount of context. However, when he started complaining, I introduced a "context plus breakdown" format - a block of uninterrupted text followed by a breakdown of the main points, here is an example.

The context is irrelevant for many of Earthplay's statements anyway. He is just plain wrong. For example, when he tells people that the entire solar system is tilting from 60 to 7 degrees, then that is simply, observably, wrong. No amount of "context" would make it right.

Earthplay also needs to realise that at 2012hoax his bad science is debunked in the context of Scaremongering, such as Antimatter vaporizing the atmosphere, 14 months of Hell, Biblical scale deaths, Entering one of the most violent regions of space. To debunk ALL of his bad science, not just the scaremongering bits, would require a whole book - he thinks comet Lovejoy survived the Sun because it was a PLANET - he thinks the Earth's core rotates in the opposite direction to the rest - he thinks high winds on Earth were caused by electricity from Jupiter - it goes on and on. One Paltalk member recently described Earthplay as "a walking encyclopedia of errors and misinformation" and I totally agree.

Because of Earthplay's continuing complaints, I recently made him this offer, which I posted in his chatroom: "I will gladly correct ANY FACTUAL ERRORS on the Earthplay pages at 2012hoax, if Earthplay or anyone else in this room can find any. I will call back here in about a week to be informed of any errors you find."

So I called back as promised, but I couldn't get into the room, he had banned me.

I have bent over backwards to be fair, honest, and accurate in my dealings with Earthplay. In return he has been unfair, cowardly, and dishonest.

I hope theres not an ice age for as long as i live I REALLY hope nothing happens on December 21, 2012 even tho i know all this sillyness is fake it bothers me and really makes me uncomfortable :/

Yesterday a friend of mine introduced me to the New World Order theory, and more specifically the Illuminati. He gave me a link to a blog discussing this phenomenon. This blogger keeps saying the governments in the world are controlled by this organization and that they may take over the world in some point in the near future. He says the media is filled with secret messages and symbols of the Illuminati. As an example he gave an analysis of the song "Umbrella" by Rihanna and how it discusses Satan and a potential future global crisis.

Now ever since yesterday this has been seriousely bothering me. My question is - is it remotely possible that this blogger has a point? Is there a possibility that the governments of the world are cooperating, and sometime soon are going to start murdering innocent people, using nuclear, biological or chemical weapons?

I've looked for material regarding this theory, and all I could find was 2012 sites discussing this theory along with other rumors such as the Mayan prediction and other things I know to be bogus. In addition, the blogger I've mentioned has many advertisements on his site to his books, tapes and other crap. As a result I decided to ask you for reliable information.

Can anyone please answer my questions and address my concerns?

2012 BX34 is a near-Earth asteroid a few meters in diameter, first observed on January 25. It will pass within about 0.2 lunar distances of Earth and has no chance of collision. Even if it were to follow a dead-eye course for our planet (it won't), it's so small that it would break apart in the atmosphere. Quoting from Space.com….

"A small asteroid will make an extremely close pass by Earth Friday (Jan. 27), coming much nearer than the moon, but the space rock poses no danger of impacting our planet, NASA scientists say."

"'It wouldn't get through our atmosphere intact even if it dared to try,' Asteroid Watch scientists tweeted today (Jan. 26)."

So whatever the doomosphere has to say about this latest astronomical news, odds are you can ignore it. The chunk of matter we're calling 2012 BX34 is yet another nonevent.

From the looks of it, I think it calls for clarification or debunking from here before it ends up triggering a lot of "Mommy, mommy, is the world going to be destroyed by a solar flare months from now?"

On of the main reasons is simply because everything like, Nibiru, Polar Shifts, Earthquakes, all have an explination. And a perfectly reasonable one.
Anything else that people come up with tend to be very vague.
Let me tell you all why i think these predictions made by significant people in history are completely ridiculous.
People are scared of these predictions because they're all the same. All the predictions they make are similar to the ones that where made before them.
I on the other hand am not scared for this reason.
Take Nostradamus for example, He became famous and well known all over the world for the predictions he made, If he predicted peace. No one would really care, he wouldn't have a worldwide audience because lets be realistic.
So many humans have no control over there instincts they're only interested in chaos. Peace to some is boring, yet we all act like we want it. People that make predictions of chaos become popular and well known all over the world because out of fear and more importantly interest everyone all over the world becomes lured in.
Now if someone around here said, i predict world peace. A new era where everyone will understand one another and we'll all hold hands and start singing.
It'd make it to probably page 6 in an unpopular newspaper.

In addition the woman that predicted Niburu has a "Chip" inside her brain so she could be contact by a distant planet in another galaxy that has warned us about Nibiru.

What do i beleive when it comes to 2012, well. I beleive it's a conspiricy, by our trusted government. We're in a recession and this 2012 hoax has become alot more apparent ever since.
BECAUSE, (once again) It makes them money :) And alot of it.
Global Warming, save our planet charities gets them a tonne of money in which we all beleive goes towards saving our planet. I beleive the cause is non existant.

There was some crazy guy that calculated the end of the world and killed himself and all his family joined him. I don't remember if they all died, wait…Calculate? Where did that idea come from? Math can solve anything. It's true, everything in the world consists of numbers and physics. The end of the world can NOT! be calculated. I don't know much about maths, but it doesn't take a idiot to put two and two together.

I know this has to be complete garbage but, what would have happened if the earth was indeed halted in 2003 and has been pushed back in its orbit. I cant believe some of the garbage that gets posted. No wonder so many are scared….

I am posting this article here mainly because 2012 is mentioned at the end. Most folks here don't believe or put any power into prophecy but some folks do come here scared because they do. It has also been said that the Chinese predict "the end" this year as well, and that is another reason I'm posting it.

OK, this is what I call a 'storyteller video'. Some speaker spins a story which little to no evidence for even the most basic claim, and it is held by the doomsayers as valid. The speaker can run through dozens of claims in quick succession in an effort to buffalo the listener into thinking it must be true, when the entire thing is unproven and probably a fairy tale. On top of that, whoever made the video adds images to the fare, with little if any relation to what the speaker is currently saying. Finally, the uploader, who seems to agree the video is a hoax, misrepresents Badastronomy.com (Phil Plait) in a partial quote. When Phil notes what the doomsayers claim, it is made out to seem Phil is stating this claim for himself.

Anyway, the speaker is a known conspiracy theorist, Bill Cooper. He is pretty close to being the sort of guy who never saw a conspiracy theory he couldn't embrace, most notably: UFO's and ET's, Illuminati / NWO, other secret societies (often occult), and Zionism. He eventually moves away from the UFO stuff (by extension, Nibiru) and settles on governmental conspiracies. His views got him a lot of attention in the militias, where that sort of thing is popular. A warrant for his arrest is issued in 1998 for tax evasion. In 2001, he is shot and killed during an effort to capture him.

One of the problems with debunking videos that just make unsupported claim after unsupported claim is you have to guess what they are talking about. If you guess wrong, the conspiracy theorist accuses you of straw manning his position, when it's a simple lack of saying where he gets his story from that is to blame. So, I will do my best on his claims:

"NASA discovered and were very excited about having found this, what they termed, Planet X. X is the roman numeral for the number 10, meaning the 10th planet in the universe."
To begin with, we're counting planets in the solar system. But that is a minor quibble. Also, there is NO support in astronomy for the X in Planet X meaning the 10th planet in the solar system. The term was used with Percival Lowell's search for another planet back in 1906 when there were just 8 planets (Pluto was discovered in 1930.) It's worth noting that when Pluto was discovered, it was no longer Planet X by definition. Further, once Pluto was discovered, the fact the next planet would happen to be the 10th one, is mere coincidence. Humorously, with Pluto kicked out of the planet club, the next planet found would be #9 again. See Absolute Astronomy, for more details. This, in of itself, isn't catastrophic, but it is indicative of the sloppy nature that runs through Cooper's research.

OK, at 0:20 he lists the discovery as Dec 31, 1983, specifically mentions IRAS by name. So that gives us something to work with. This is important, it has been falsely used as evidence for Nibiru for years. Nothing is further from the truth. What happened is the scientists had unidentified objects, and so they gave speculative identifications, "Unidentified Point Sources in the IRAS Minisurvey" in the paper. One of the speculative identifications for one of the objects in the IRAS minisurvey was listed as a blackbody. That could mean planet. A Washington Post writer, Thomas O'Toole, covers the story and throughout his coverage, HE emphasizes the planet conclusion. Note from the language of both the scientists quoted and the original article: they have not stated definitively they have a planet at any point. By 1984 and 1985, identifications started flowing in on the previously unidentified point sources. None of them were a planet, but rather galaxies or galactic cirrus, so the press promptly lost interest. He goes on to say they released pictures of this Planet X (0:38) and it was covered in 6 major newspapers. Well, that's partially true, as we have seen already, the Washington Post story was real, but it included no picture whatsoever. If you look at the scholarly literature, you get images, but this is the only place I have yet to find any imagery. But then he goes and drops in a doozy: at 0:42, he claims,
"Suddenly, the government came in, started putting a lid on all this information." There is no information to support this anywhere. Nobody has ever produced a shred of evidence to suggest the government killed the story. We know from above the story died all on it's own: it didn't turn out to be a planet at all, and newspapers didn't think stories about galaxies or galactic cirrus were very interesting. However, this does illustrate how easily he fabricates a story to fill in details.

OK, he's going on another claim mere seconds later (0:55):
"But now, we find out, just on the week of January 7, the year 2002, all of the sudden they are squashing all this information and keeping it from the public. They said it was an asteroid, when finally they began to admit it was there."
He goes on to claim it's in Newsweek (doesn't say the issue) and that any astronomer on earth get a picture of it. The lack of specifying an issue date of the Newsweek makes the claim basically untraceable without a real library to conduct research in, a problem that could have been solved by taking a few seconds to state the date. However, the most obvious problem here is it is now 10 years later, and after stating any astronomer on Earth could get a picture of it, we have no provable coordinates to anything resembling the doomsday version of Planet X/Nibiryu.

Come about 1:30, he claims it is now between the Earth and the Sun, and makes a rather bizarre claim:
"Between the Earth, and between the Sun, and it will displace the gravity of the sun temporarily as it passes by, just as it did in the days of VLEG. Only the largest controlled telescopes that have been controlled by the government for years, have seen Planet X until, I just mentioned, they admitted it was a real planet…"
I can't find anything in the laws of physics about gravity being displaced. I don't know what that even means. And I'm not sure what VLEG is, I may have misheard it. But what he's doing is basically BSing at this point, filling time.

About 2:00, he claims:
"They began to see it in 2001. It was easy to cover it up until then. But then, all the sudden, in 2002 small to mid-level observatories, such as the Lowell Observatory in Arizona, one in South America, one in Switzerland, began to see there was something there, and it was moving. And according to their calculations, it was heading towards our solar system."
This is where it gets harder and harder to really contest anything he says. You can't prove they didn't see anything. You can't argue 'calculations' that he doesn't present. We do know that the data was starting to be collected for what would be the discovery of the first dwarf planets in that time, Sedna was first imaged in 2001. We also know new comets were being found, which come close to Earth. None of this suggests a planet coming into the inner solar system:

OK, then it sounds like he's going to cite something provable at 2:52:
"…. To be exact, it is our enemy, since 1917 to 1919, international communism. The leaders of Russia have spilled the beans. Here is just one particular quote that came out over Reuters Press. That's like the AP and UPI press here in America. This is the European news wire service. This is Sept 13, the year 2000, I quote, 'Anticipated Chain of Disasters Due to hit in 2003.' And then another of the headlines was, 'Massive Population Shrinkage."
I only found one story, in two versions. It mentions both of these. I can't find the originals at this time, but if we ignore the conspiracy-laden commentary, we can use the following:

OK, a short form and a long form. The short form refers to disasters and massive population shrinkage. How massive are we talking? Doesn't say. Governments are generally against population shrinkage, it means lost GDP and all the things that come with more economic power. And the nature of the disasters is not stated at all. It certainly does not specify astronomical disasters. The long form gets into the nuts and bolts: Debt, crumbling infrastructure and aging population. Pretty serious stuff, and possibly could cause population shrinkage.

All that really happened here was Cooper seized upon Russia's problems and affixed them to his 2012… eer, 2003 doomsday story. Oh yes, people still quote him in a 2012 context, but he was prediction Planet X to come in 2003. Obviously, it didn't, yet another strike against his whole storytelling session.

At 3:45, he goes on to say they Russians wondered if they nation would even exist at all. This really is a 'no shit' moment. Russia was in REALLY BAD SHAPE. Again, to extrapolate it to be a fear of an astronomical disaster from some Planet X or Nibiru isn't valid. Russia was full of very real problems.

By 4:05, he is dropping into his usual anti-government screed, saying how government officials would not protect any of us, because they know, they can't. I always get a hoot over this. The line is the government can't do anything that would save lives (and protect a nation's workforce, when looked at it from a evil government's POV), but supposedly, they are always hawking the idea that individuals can dramatically change their chances. Funny, that.

At 4:22, he gets into the tired old claim: "But they started a building program, underground. At least 129 underground facilities, from one end of the country to the other, has been completed. We always thought, it was in case of a nuclear weapon, but we found out, that it's not. It's in case Planet X comes our way!"
First, he doesn't bother to prove exactly what these facilities are. He discounts the COLD WAR as trivia in his approach here, just simply saying it's not for 'a nuclear weapon', but for Planet X. How you are to prove this, Mr. Cooper? All you did was SAY it, and that is really not good enough. Intent is HARD to prove in the first place, and apparently he has taken the opposite approach: don't even try.
What we do know is some very real underground facilities exist. Cheyenne Mountain, the most famous, took fully 5 years to build and is considered one of the most hardened fortifications in the world. It's role as the nerve center of the US Military in a nuclear war is well known:

Of course, Encyclopedias are never used as references in serious research, much less children's editions. Also, it is clear the article is not about the idea of a 10th planet or dead star whatsoever. The text never even mentions such ideas. It's like the diagram was used merely because it showed the paths of two of the Voyager probes. But what is the source? Where the encyclopedia got this diagram is not referenced, but I found it:

The diagram was printed in the November 1982 issue of Science Digest. The author J. Allen Hynek fields questions about possible scientific explanations for apparent deviations in the orbits of the outer planets. Note the only real difference is the original diagram made it clear these were hypothetical, by using question marks on the diagram and through the text. The children's encyclopedia removed them and had no supporting text.

The other image, which gets a lot of screen time, is of Google Sky. Doomsayers are always obsessing over Google Sky, which is sad because it's buggy and the real sky is much more interesting. The coordinates 09h 47m 57.30s 13 deg 16' 44" are used in the infrared layer, and implication is that it is Planet X/Nibiru. However, it is CW Leonis, a well known giant carbon star with a significant IR signature overwhelming the sensitive IR detectors (click 'Detailed Information' for coordinates and compare):

So all of that covers a little less than 5 minutes of doomsayer tirade. Throwing out unproven false claims can be done quickly and easily, checking on them is much more time consuming. Doomsayers bet 'the faithful' won't check.

So, today I heard another theory that is supposed to be another sign that the world is ending in 2012. I wish people would stop reaching and searching high and low for some sort of connection to 2012 being the end of our existence. It's about the mysterious earth noises heard around the world.

Does anyone have any theories or explanation about this phenomena?

I was thinking of starting a website myself on a similar topic. I still might, but when I researched what else was out there I came across this one. At first I thought there wasn't anything (except one that looked very promising until I realised the solution was to study the Bible more).

The focus of my website was probably going to be a bit wider than just 2012. A bunch of conspiracy theories get mashed up all the time out there, and I'm interested in promoting critical thinking generally. Debunking 2012 or fake moon landings is great, but to some extent akin to giving a man a fish. I suppose if you stand next to someone giving you fish long enough you might begin to notice how he's doing it.

What I'm wondering - what my big idea for a website was before I found you - is to take the fight to the enemy (so to speak, and optionally love them :) ). The thing is, those people who are already conspiracy theorists confirm their bias all the time - their "research" consists of reading/watching more stuff that backs up what they already think. The material becomes like a black hole, sucking more and more people in. When someone comes across a potentially "enlightening" new idea, whether a 2012 rumour or a video about how only aliens could have built the pyramids, they naturally seek more of the same to see what there is to it, and they tend to get dragged across the event horizon. Teaching a man to fish and black holes, heck I'm in Metaphor City, Arizona.

Debunking sites like this one, skepdic.com, badarcheology, etc., are wonderful resources, but the pink-unicorn chasers don't tend to bother reading them. The recent decision to require registration here is understandable, but is another barrier to the vulnerable getting immediate help. Actually I think it's a good move, so that all and sundry can't engage in drive-by abuse and the forum doesn't get clogged up with so much woo that the critical thinking starts to be undermined. There's enough nonsense already on youtube: why not fight it there?

Of course, people do. No doubt many of you post there occasionally, or habitually. I came from there myself, astounded at how few voices of reason there were in the comments. So I had this idea to amass an army of critical thinkers, assess the places where people are getting sucked in, and work to stop the rot, fairly flexibly perhaps, but with an eye to learning and encouraging best practice. We would do this with a place to administrate the process and report what works and what doesn't. Each soldier of reason might choose particular sites or subject matter to debunk, or perhaps even latch on to an individual woo-meister.

We would keep up the actions repeatedly, so that reasonable responses don't drift too far down into the history of a conversation (although with many, it would be impossible to stay anywhere near the top, as comments arrive by the minute). It could be something as simple as regularly posting in a youtube comment with a link to a relevant debunking page. It could be a standard piece of text inserted into a forum discussion, expressing the sceptical position. It could be plain information or something more creative (satire, etc.). Members might be asked to work within particular guidelines, or not - I'm just putting this out there.

I think youtube is a particularly persuasive event horizon. Those with poor thinking skills can't be bothered to read articles, but watching TV is second nature to them. The 'related' feature means they meander aimlessly through the site, steadily being indoctrinated. It's also very easy for people to record their own "wake-up call" and have it go viral, making them deeply invested in the nonsense they've put out on their channel.

Incidentally, even though I can't remember ever changing anyone's mind in several years of debate, I do believe that it's worth arguing publicly against irrational beliefs. The reason is that you're almost always arguing with someone who's already invested, and arguing tends to make many of us less able to see the other side's p.o.v., but I know now that I'm really talking to the lurkers, the undecided, present and future. It's those vulnerable people we can help ease away from the edge.

So I'd be interested to know what others think about the idea, and I'm wondering, if it's worth doing, would a section of 2012hoax.org be a good place to do that? Maybe there's something like it already I've not found yet. And maybe such an organisation ought not to be based on 2012, but tackle a lot of the other nonsense out there. We won't be redundant in 2013, you can count on that.

This story has been re-published on many doomsday sites by people and extreme religious groups who believe that these giants are related to the Nephilim found in the Old Testament, and theorize that it's proof of "End Times". This story has been going around for decades, but recently (just yesterday) the "mystery" was solved, thanks to recently discovered long-lost historical documents.

I have been visiting/reading your website for approx. two years now and I wanted to say THANK YOU! — thank you for providing reliable facts and information regarding so many topics and issues surrounding different doomsday scenarios, more specifically 2012. I first heard about "2012 Doomsday" rumors shortly after the "2012" movie came out. It never phased me when I first saw advertisements for the movie until friends of mine starting talking about how the world would end in 2012 (most joked, some took it very seriously.) I even had to end a friendship over beliefs that one friend had about Niburu (sp?)and comet Elenin. She was completely convinced comet Elenin was going to hit us without a doubt and that everyone else is the world was completely oblivious. I have high anxiety to begin with, so of course it went sky-high when I heard people close to me talking about Niburu, Comet Elenin and 2012. First thing I did, and first mistake I made was searched google. It provided so many websites with false information that fueled my fears (unfortunetly at the time your website didn't appear in my search.) For nearly a year, not a day went by that I wasn't scared or worrying about what might happen on December 21, 2012 as well as some other dates. I'm a young mother of 3 and have only been married for 3 years — I feel like that year spent before finding your website was completely wasted, worrying over nothing. I regret having to say this, but fear over-took EVERYTHING else in my life including the four people that mean the most to me. Now when I hear of some ridiculous doomsday rumor I don't waste my time searching any other websites for information I come directly here! There has never been anything that I've heard of that I hasn't already been covered by you guys. Has that ever happened before? A big earthquake strikes somewhere, but there's no mention of the news about it?

Plus, they both struck within minutes of each other. Have 2 or more earthquakes of that size ever hit somewhere only minutes apart? I'm not talking about aftershocks.

Is it right for 100 rats to die just so we can have a new shampoo or lipstick?

Is it right that 100 rats die in an attempt to find a cure for cancer?

In this age of cloning, test tube tissue growing and advanced computing abilities, do we REALLY need to bring animals into our affairs?

My stance on it is rats for example share little to nothing with humans anatomically, what kills or harms a rat, may be perfectly safe for humans or what's perfectly safe for a rat, may kill or harm humans. Take the antibiotic penicillin for example, a drug which has saved hundreds of thousands of human lives, but when it was tested on guinea pigs, all the subject animals died.

I think vivisection is infact dangerous for humans, and a massive step backwards for science. Specially when we now have the ability to grow human tissue & organs in the laboratory and produce computer models which allow the safe testing of drugs & chemicals without actually having to test them on a living creature.

What do you think?
