He admits to having obtained his information about Planet X as a result of alien abduction, so I hope you will pardon me if I don't take him seriously.

Galileo, Kepler, Newton and Einstein have shown us how the planets work in space. That will do for me. I have no interest in planets which are invisible and have no gravitational influence.

You seem to fail to understand that in order to make claims one has to have evidence. As the old saying goes, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. He present none. Zero. Zip. Nada. Zilch. Nothing. No evidence at all, just wild stories based on a fictionaly end date predicted by the mayans (which, btw, is also wrong).

You seem to think that he is basing his ideas on scientific facts. Sorry, but no. He's not. First and foremost, if an object as large as a planet or a dwarf star were on a collision course with Earth, we would have seen it years ago. Period. That's an undisputed fact by real scients. You know, the ones that work for real research firms and organizations like NASA, the American Astronimical Societ and the European Space Agency. They're the ones with the big telescopes. They're the ones with the satellites looking out into space. And they're the ones with the real and proven merits with actual research data that can be tested and confirmed. Mr. Rand, on the other hand, has none of this.

The other simple fact of the matter is that Mr. Rand has lied about his merits and credentials. That alone should immediatly cast doubt on anything he has to say.

You seem to think that his theories are sound. Why? He's given no real evidence and he's proved that he's clueless (go watch the bullshit episode, he makes himself look like an ass by himself, no help needed by the Bullshit staff). More importantly, do you understand how planetary orbital systems work? Do you understand astronomical and planetary science? Have you even passed the fifth grade?

You say that you take our arguments as seriously as his. What arguments does he have? His own opinions and conclusions based on a flawed understanding of how the real world works. Our arguments, on the other hand, are not our opinions. We cite actual research. We cite well known scientific facts.

My point is simply this: Don't believe what anybody says just because they have a book and a fancy title. If they don't have any real research and their claims are based on flawed data then their claims are meaningless.

Maybe it's worth me pointing out that there is no actual argument of any kind in your post, but I suspect you already know this.

The thing here is, most of this crap is the same garbage that's been regurgitated time and time again for decades (well, the gravity and planet x stuff is sorta kinda new). It's exactly the same thing as this 'organic' fad that everybody seems to think is real or the global warming hoax. 30 years ago it was a global freezing crisis. Same stories, different people telling them.

Go take a look at Penn & Teller's Bullshit Season 7: End of the World. Rand is standing there with a couple of balls attached to some sticks giving an example of how object orbit eachother and what happens when they collide. Here's a screen cap from the show:

Really, if people could watch Rand be the duffus he is on camera… on a national television show… named BULLSHIT of all things… nobody would ever be able to take him seriously. Penn said it best: "I'm starting to suspect that 'Dr.' Rand doesn't know a brown dwarf from a hole in his ass."
