Ok, let us get something straight here Mike. Terror to the point of vomiting, horror to the point of months without eating or drinking, and regular night terrors are not part of "growing up", they are part of what makes life in a warped society so cruel to innocent children. The first amendment allows it, but does not make it morally sound or excuse it. The first amendment also allows me to call the 'artists' in this situation scum. They are making a buck off of hysteria, sitting back and getting fat, and doing unnecessary and unjust harm. They are without conscience. The first amendment gives you the right to free speech, but it does not give you moral exemption. Things have a way of coming full circle in this funny little rotating ball of a world, and the ones who get rich by making people suffer will ultimately pay their price. Besides, the first amendment seems to only apply to those who can afford to defend it. If I did what Emmerich is doing, I would be jailed for inciting a riot, or maybe hauled off to an offshore camp to be waterboarded. It's always the people who do the least to promote freedom that demand theirs protected infinitely. This wasn't a matter of artistic expression, the mass-hysteria campaign has been prevalent for years now, all to promote a box office hit, and eventually sell some DVDs and BluRays to those fortunate enough not to have seen 2012 in the theater. The history channel documentary was part of that campaign. That isn't expression, that is deliberate harm. I have free speech, but if I call you on the phone and tell you your house is on fire, is that protected under the first amendment?

Thank you, Krysie, for your kind words. We really appreciate hearing from people who have been helped by the site. It took a lot of courage for Nika to confront the demons that were haunting her niece, and from what I hear, it is an ongoing process.

We're glad you found our facts-based approach reassuring as well. Based on the number of comments and questions we get from kids, there are a lot of young people who are being tormented by this hoax.

December 21st birthday? What an auspicious day! You can honestly say that as soon as your birthday comes the world (well, the northern hemisphere) gets a bit brighter every day!

That is insane, Im a 21 year old female who myself had some fighting and wrestling in my own head about this date, its my birthday, Dec 21st. What a better way to have another person scared, like "Wow, im going to die on my birthday', i too was pondering why god would do such a thing, researching anything and everything i could about this hoping to find some hope that someone could turn my cheek the other way. Its disturbing knowing its affecting our children this way. Its quite discusting that authors with no leg to stand on are making up lies, and distressing people for no appearant reason. My husband, and my mother helped me to see that no body can read or tell when the world is going to end, if it will. Reading gods promisses in the bible, like the rainbow, and the story of noah, seemed to help somewhat, but not entirely. I didnt realize that this hoax is just a bunch of crap untill just tonight, about a half an hour ago, while reading these stories. This is a great site for people like me, and others who just need something else to go on, besides the "end". I am so sorry that your niece had to be dragged through that social swamp of lies and misunderstandings. It must have been horrible, and your such a strong person for doing what you did. Even i didnt know how to help myself untill i seen this site. Thank you and everyone on this site for all your research, your comments, your proof, your knowledge, and everything. You guys are truly "LIFESAVERS".

Hi, Nika :)

Really the best thing you can do about this is exactly what you did do, so I wouldn't worry about it. Kat is going to see other disturbing things in her life, some real and some not. It's all part of growing up.

There have been disturbing things written long before John Patmos' "Revelations" and long after. Whether Emmerich's movie attains the status of "Great Art" I guess we won't know until it comes out. Will Smith put on a great performance in "Independence Day" but that movie kind of "blended in", so we'll see.

The truth is, Emmerich has First Amendment rights, just like you or I. Pets die. Stevie Nyx's uncle John died. Presidents die.

I'm trying to remember some of the songs I've heard at open mics; Patty Finney's song "One Dead" about when she was washing dishes and saw a traffic accident though the window and then used the vacuum cleaner as the TV told her about it was pretty disturbing. Rusty Wier's "Black Magic Gun" was a great song about evil. There's my own "Don't Drive 105", so I followed with "The Dead in Heaven" (kind of a counterpoint). So I guess I'm in the same boat as Emmerich.

You're teaching Kat healthy skepticism, which is good.

I think you'd make a fine Mom.

:D
