i mean maybe people who actually WANT to kill themselves are just putting it off to the last second ya know? i bet on the morning of 12-21-12 people are going to start killing themselves….it sucks not everyone in the world knows of this site..well i would like to hear you all clarify on this..but i'm almost completely certain a MASSIVE suicide will occure probably the day before..and it WILL deeply break my heart to see that when it is most defineately on the news.
Hopefully those who sold out this stupid doomsday ideology will be held responsible for those suicides and charged for it, which of course will be included with the huge mockery that they will face. This makes me even look forward to 2012.
Theres a thing that could happen on Dec 21 I will wake up , and be like THIS IS A NORMAL DAY Just like any other day. I turn on the tv and theres a dumb guy crappin about the mayans , This is the day Il get mad and throw something at my tv ,
And mass suicide? Thats so unlikely in my oppinion , If they wake up normally that proves the world is not ending think about it guys and youl know what i mean.
And for those who know 2012 is a hoax/lie theyre gonna have a 'Laughing Day'
No man knows the day nor the hour when the world will end.

Well, I think that unfortunatelly mass suicides might be a real issue when 2012 approaches, mainly thanks to all the hype this nonsense has been getting. I mean, if Halebop (or sects fabricating facts about it) could get people to kill themselfs, then I don't doubt for a second that the same goes for this doomsday scenario(s). As sad as it is, it's a part of the natural order of life (people will always be misleaded, and the outcome is unfortunatelly something like Heavens Gate).

This is why I am here, trying to prevent this from happening by giving real information.
Did mass suicide happen the day before y2k?

Not that I recall off.
Than that pretty much will be the same with 2012 …

Hopefully yes, but since this doomsday has been promoted far more than Y2K I guess that it's not something that we can take for granted. And since people already commited suicide thank's to this hoax I think it's more or less certain that some will do the same when 2012 approaches. But, hopefully this site, and others, can help prevent that to as far extent as possible

I don't believe it has. I think most people had heard of the Y2K computer problem and the ridiculous predictions associated with it, such as planes falling from the sky and the banking system collapsing. Probably most people hadn't heard of the 'end of the world by fire, flood, famine, pestilence', etc. which are routinely trotted out by the doomsday brigade and just as routinely laughed at.
Regarding 2012, I've yet to meet a single person who's even heard of it. Away from the world of American middle school kids and websites such as Yahoo! Answers (largely populated by the aforementioned kids), it just doesn't register among the vast majority of the population, as far as I can tell. I see 21st December 2012 passing off rather like a damp squib, as did 21st May 2011.
And since people already commited suicide thank's to this hoax
Have they? I haven't heard of this.
This guy has not been convicted but it would appear that if he is it was because he talked two people into taking their lives. Not enough details to know exactly what happened but if he is part of the 2012 hype I bet it had something to do with his quack religious ideas.
But, hopefully this site, and others, can help prevent that to as far extent as possible
Hopefully, yes. Unfortunately, there are much more doomsday sites than debunking sites. Fortunately, more and more people visit the 2012hoax.org.

I haven't heard either, but many people are wondering about suicide.

its not fun that people take there lives , but beacause of that we people who now about 2012hoax.org have too try more people now about the site , send to forums and other things on the net and let people see 2012hoax , its much people out there who fiel bad and dont know about 2012hoax I tell about 2012hoax when i visits bloggs or frorums there people is afraid about 2012 .
You're correct, Pedro. We should spread knowledge of this site as far as possible. Those you tell will tell more people, who will tell others, etc. We won't be able to save everyone, but each one makes it worthwhile.
The 2012hoax has 57 members (of course, some of them are inactive) who are spreading the message to friends and family. It's working and hopefully more people will join to our 'team'.

Did mass suicide happen the day before y2k?
I don't recall anyone committing suicide around Y2K, but then again, I wasn't paying much attention. I think if there had been a massive suicide, I'd have heard about it by now, though.
I don't think it's likely that 2012 will trigger a suicide pandemic, though I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it triggering any suicide.
I don't believe it has [been promoted more than Y2K].
Considering that Roland Emmerich made a major motion picture out of it and the advertising campaign for the film basically told people to look up 2012 (just "2012," not "2012 movie" or "2012 Roland Emmerich") on Google, I'd say 2012 has probably had a lot more publicity than Y2K.
When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Its horrible to think that because of a stupid money making scam lots of people could sucide!I hope not i really do.The people that made this site should try and get on tv and explain this is all a hoax before its too late!Tv is the only thing everyone beleives.
Sadly, the television market is more or less dominated by scum like the Hysteria Channel executives.
This happened when Hale bopp passed. Information about Heaven's Gate is below but not going to go into detail as you can read it for yourself. I honestly don't even feel bad for people like this; as they're making natural selection work faster, and less stupid people on the planet is a plus. I know it's messed up what I just said, but welcome to reality! :D

"It isn't breaking the law until you get caught!"
On March 26, 1997, police discovered the bodies of 39 members of the group who had committed suicide in order to reach an alien aircraft which they believed was following the Comet Hale-Bopp, which was at its brightest.
Well, this explains it all… it's sad, actually.

Was there ever proof that they DIDN'T wind up on an alien space ship? Just a thought.
Is that the same question as asking, is there any proof the world was NOT recycled? Their website is still up and linked in that wikipedia article. Take a look at the delusion.
Was there ever proof that they DIDN'T wind up on an alien space ship? Just a thought.
Is there even a reason to waste resources researching such a ridiculous claim?

(I know this has little to do with this but I lived 29.6 miles from a cult like this((almost))) I live in Hubbard 29.6 miles away was Waco in wago was a cult called Branch Davidian
considering that harold camping and lhc managed to get people committing suicide, I'm almost 100% sure there will be suicides. How many? We'll see.
I worry about this too, because this has a cult-like following now. If it does happen, people like Nancy LIEder should be charged with aiding and abetting suicide.
If it does happen, people like Nancy LIEder should be charged with aiding and abetting suicide.
No, they shouldn't. A legal precedent of that nature would, in my opinion, be worse than any doomsayer's nonsense.
Agreed. There is no basis, no matter how crazy these people's words are, to charge them with any crime. If you were to do this then you would be crapping all over the free speech that is a part of civilized society.

What about in regards to the ideas of an assention to the 5th dimension floating about? I cannot seem to get any direct answers out of people when it comes to that…. Do you have it die to assend??? MAybe that is where the mass suicide will play into it??? JUST a thought..
What about in regards to the ideas of an assention to the 5th dimension floating about? I cannot seem to get any direct answers out of people when it comes to that….
It's complete and utter new age nonsense. It's fiction, not real, absolute fantasy.
MAybe that is where the mass suicide will play into it???
That would be a cult, and I certainly won't say that's impossible, but I hope nothing of the sort happens.
The great thing about science is, it's true whether you believe in it or not.
What about in regards to the ideas of an assention to the 5th dimension floating about?
5th dimension?
First String theory is not fact yet. We do not know if more dimensions even exists.
Second even if more dimensions exists, it only would exist at subatomic level (string level). As a human it would be completely useless.
I thought they broke up.

What i don't understand is why people would commit suicide on the day the world is going to end?
Why not live life to the very very peak and witness the apocolypse first hand? I mean, if i knew the world was going to end and it was a 100% fact based on real scientific data, i wouldn't kill myself -_-
You're going to die either way right? I guess if i knew it was going to happen for a fact and knew it was going to be a slow painful death then i'd prehaps do it minutes before the end.
but an impact from another planet wouldn't exactly be a slow death -_- (providing the Niburu THEORY turned out to be true)
Neither would a huge solar flare from the sun (which has been proven impossible, or at least one big enough to destroy all living things on earth)
Solar Ice caps melting, i figure i'd have a sporting chance at getting the hell out of there, build myself an ark, problem solved -_- Shoot myself in the face. Well then i've just got no chance have I ¬_¬ I don't know, i guess we all have different ways of thinking when it comes too this.
People are so irrational when it comes to these things, honestly they all need to realise just how stupid such an act would be even if the world was going to end.
Remember though, any mass suicides are usually ordered by some lunatic who thinks that by killing themselves they'll transcend into a higher dimension or some other guff. Cults aren't rational people, they're usually headcases.
The great thing about science is, it's true whether you believe in it or not.
What i don't understand is why people would commit suicide on the day the world is going to end?
It is the uncertainty that is way more stressful than the end of the world itself.
Also with young kids, they don't realize what dying really means. They might do it without realizing the full consequences.
It is dangerous to talk about it since it might bring them on ideas that they did not have before.
What i don't understand is why people would commit suicide on the day the world is going to end?
They prefer dying by a "predictable" way than waiting for the end of the world. It's silly and sad at the same time. Sadly we just can't help anyone. :-(

Because for example sometimes this is connected with a systems of beliefs according to this salvation is possible only to death BEFORE doomsday, if your died during Armagedon, you are cursed by God.
