Petition the History Channel

One of the primary sources of misinformation about the year 2012 has been the History Channel. Their airing of various pseudo-documentaries about Nostradamus and the Mayan calendar have led to the widespread belief that cataclysmic events will occur in 2012. Please sign our petition to ask the History Channel to stop airing these pseudo-documentaries, or at least produce and air documentaries that counter the misinformation currently being promoted.

This petition will be delivered to the History Channel in 2010.

Comments: It's time for people to hear the other side! The "2012 Apocalypse" is nothing more than swill. If anything happens it will be brought on by fools who are engaged in hoarding, and stockpiling of weapons. Give the truth a chance - or doesn't that "sell programs" with your advertisers?
  • Jennifer V, Maine, United States, 19 Feb 2012 21:54
Comments: I've had enough id rather watch shows on events that happened in history. the only decent show they have now is pawns stars and thats because of all the old artifacts that people have collected from important events in the past..pieces that actually contain history

Comments: The once history channel is now a propaganda channel dumbed down with a smoke screen of reality shows of ice road truckers and gay pickers. What happened to shows on ww2, ancient Greece & Rome. Propaganda!!

Comments: It is precisely this type of show that drove me away from History Channel. I used to be a fan, but this year, II unsubscribed. I had enough of the junk shows that had nothing to do with facts or reality. It's not History anymore, it's the Junk History Channel.
  • Michael Wisenbaker, Florida, United States, 12 Jul 2011 15:24
Comments: As a professional archaeologist with four decades of experience, I'm sorely disappointed and disillusioned with the shows being broadcast on the History Channel with regard to the alleged end of the world in December of 2012. .
  • Ebrahim Mama, Singapore, Singapore, 07 Jul 2011 03:33

  • Cynthia Kaeding, IL, United States, 29 Jun 2011 15:18
Comments: I probaly watch your channel more than any other, (I am addicted to "Swamp People) but your pseudo-science shows dealing with "ancient aliens", the 2012 nonsense, etc, are ridiculous. This kind of junk is beneath you.
  • Ryan McDowell, , United Kingdom, 27 Jun 2011 20:37

Comments: I cant say anything but... Thank You!!
  • Frannie Lindsay, MA, United States, 17 May 2011 00:32
Comments: Please stop traumatizing your viewing public. It isn't fair. The consequences are serious--people are suffering severe depression and breakdowns. It's essential that the station executives take some compassionate responsibility for their programming decisions.
  • Micheal McEvoy, Minnesota, United States, 14 May 2011 16:50
  • Jessica McCallon, CA, United States, 10 May 2011 00:40
Comments: It's discouraging as a young adult to see/hear the nonsense your programming spews. Not every single one of your viewers enjoy sensationalist crap. Trufax are needed, especially when it comes to propaganda. Stop aiding the mess which history has already become in our school systems.
  • Slava Kosmina, New York, United States, 30 Mar 2011 02:24
Comments: Corruption must end. Quality programming must begin. Research proves that your programs are largely lies catering to dubious guests who have a misleading book to sell. Educate your viewers; don’t lie to them unless your channel is in the game of creating a retarded, obedient workforce.
  • Matt Brooks, Georgia, United States, 27 Mar 2011 01:28
Comments: The name of the channel is "History Channel" not "Pseudo-future Channel". They need to go back to showing interesting things about World Wars and what not and stop trying to cash in on crap.
  • Karla Rivera, CA, United States, 05 Feb 2011 05:00

Comments: I first heard about this on a show the history channel played, TEN years ago!! It has bothered me since, and I should not have gone through Childhood with that fear, as no Child now should be plauged with that fear.
  • Kelly Sandberg, OR, United States, 01 Jan 2011 10:04
Comments: Your programming should be about History, not what may or may not take place in the future.
  • Keith Johnson, TX, United States, 22 Dec 2010 02:44
Comments: Shame on you, History Channel!! Your 2012 programming has some people, INCLUDING CHILDREN, contemplating suicide because they're convinced they're going to be dead in 2 years anyway.
  • Gary Anderson, , United Kingdom, 09 Dec 2010 11:44

  • J Ross, Tx, United States, 01 Nov 2010 18:20
Comments: Whoevers in charge of airing these false 2012 shows can burn in hell. Does the history channel not understand that kids shouldnt be worrying about false predictions by a bunch of dumb indians that couldnt even survive 2000 years ago.

Comments: Im already scared of the world ending and im only 15. I want live and have a family. YOU'RE NOT HELPING history channel
  • James Smith, Chiapas, Mexico, 18 Jun 2010 22:10
Comments: I live in a Maya region of Chiapas, Mexico, where I volunteer in programs to improve schools in Maya villages. The bizarre claims put in the mouths of ancient Maya by 2012 proponents will probably cause a damaging backlash against the modern Maya.
  • Gregory Mosher, Ohio, United States, 10 Jun 2010 13:31
Comments: As a Geologist and Skeptic I find the fear mongering programing both distasteful and inappropriate. The pursuit of advertising money has overshadowed all hope for accuracy and accountability, I had hoped the History Channel was better than that.
