The Side Effects Of Oxymetholone

Oxymetholone is a synthetic anabolic androgenic steroid that is known by its brand name Anadrol. it is one of the strongest available steroids. It was initially manufactured for use in patients with osteoporosis and anemia but has however found use in the fitness industry for its great anabolic effects. It leads to massive muscle mass gain and strength. Despite its great benefits, it is associated with adverse side effects.

In the cardiovascular system, prolonged Oxymetholone use leads to increased levels of low density lipoprotein which is responsible for atherosclerosis and increased blood pressure. The fact that it increases water retention in the body also adds on to the hypertension. But the most worrisome cardiac event is the possibility of a heart attack.

Oral Anadrol is associated with hepatotoxicity. This is because it is not easily metabolized by the liver. Symptoms such as yellowing of the eyes and pale stools should point to hepatic injury and the steroid should be withdrawn. In the gastrointestinal system, the user may experience nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea as a result of oral intake.

In the genitourinary system, Anadrol reduces the production of testosterone by the testes. This leads to low sperm count and generally reduced semen. Use by older men leads to an increased rate of prostatic growth which leads to signs of urinary obstruction.

In females, the high testosterone levels lead to virilization. This is marked by increased hair growth and facial hair, deepening of the voice and coarsening of features, abnormalities in the menstrual cycle and broadening of the shoulders.

The skin usually gets increased sebaceous glands from use of the steroid and as a result there is increased synthesis of sebum. Sebum covers the skin pores leading to development of, or exacerbation of preexisting acne.

In men with the gene for male pattern balding, the high levels of exogenous testosterone bind to the hair follicles of susceptible hairs and cause inflammation. The hair then falls off leading to balding.

Regardless of these side effects, when used in the right dosage with adequate time interval between cycles, Oxymetholone side effects can be avoided.
